The renter is responsible for whatever ends up in the container, even items added by someone else. If prohibited materials show up, fees or penalties can apply. To reduce the risk, place the dumpster in a visible or gated area, keep an eye on it, or throw a tarp over the top when the crew is not actively loading.

No, as long as placement instructions are clear and the area is open. Being around can help if you want the box in a very specific spot. For pickup, make sure nothing is stacked above the top rail, the door is shut and latched, and nothing blocks the driver’s approach. If those conditions are met, the removal happens without you onsite.
